Desktop app
The desktop app automatically syncs your documents between the server and your computer, Dropbox-style.
Installation
Available for macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon) and Windows 10/11.
- 1Download the installer from the downloads page.
- 2On macOS: open the .dmg and drag the app to Applications. Authorize launch in System Preferences → Security.
- 3On Windows: run the .exe and follow the wizard. Accept the SmartScreen prompt if it appears.
Sign in
The first time you'll need your server URL, your email, password, and a name to identify this device.
- 1Open the app. You'll see the login screen.
- 2Enter your server URL (e.g. https://my-company.foliato.com).
- 3Enter your credentials and give the device a recognizable name ("Work Mac", "Home Laptop").
- 4Press "Connect". The app stores a secure token in your OS keyring.
💡 The token is stored in macOS Keychain or Windows Credential Manager. It is never saved as plain text.
Pick projects to sync
After logging in, choose which projects to mirror locally. Only those will be downloaded to the sync folder.
- 1In the project list, toggle the ones you want to sync.
- 2The app starts the initial download automatically.
- 3You can open the sync folder from the tray icon.
