Document requests
Document requests let you ask clients (or anyone outside your organization) to upload a specific list of files via a secure link — no account required.
Create a request
- 1Open "Document Requests" from the sidebar (or from the dashboard).
- 2Click "New request".
- 3Pick a template (Accountants, Mortgage brokers, Law firms) or start from scratch.
- 4Choose the project, recipient email, expiration, and (optionally) the destination folder per item.
- 5Click "Create and send" — the recipient gets an email with a secure link.
What the recipient sees
The recipient opens the link and sees a branded portal with your organization's name and a checklist of the requested documents. They drag and drop or click to upload each file — no login, no signup. Files are sent over an encrypted connection.
Once they upload a file you assigned a destination folder to, the file lands directly there in your project.
Notifications
You get notified by email when the first file arrives, and again when all required items are uploaded. Optional items don't block completion.
Reminders and cancel
From the request detail page you can resend the email, send a reminder, or cancel the request — which invalidates the recipient's link immediately.
Templates
Foliato ships system templates for accountants, mortgage brokers and law firms. You can duplicate any of them to your organization and customize the items, descriptions, or accepted file types.
